NWPC-VA advocates for women and provides an intersectional lens of the policies which affect women, children, and families, such as reproductive freedom, economic and criminal justice reform, environmental health, criminal justice reform, healthcare access, and more. For NWPC-VA to be most effective at this time, we have decided to focus our efforts on specific areas. At the February board meeting, the directors approved the following focus areas for NWPC-VA:
- Childcare and healthcare equity
- Expansion of voting rights
- Campaign finance reform
- Criminal justice reform with a focus on women
- Family law
- Housing
The Policy Committee will be working on these issues this year, liaising with Virginia legislators, stakeholders, and grassroots organizations throughout the commonwealth with the goal of generating strong bipartisan bills for the 2022 General Assembly.
